Joshua 8

Joshua 8

In Chapter 8 God encourages Joshua again (8:1). He needs to learn from his mistakes and continue on, as a any leader should. Sin does the hindering, but God does the forgiving and He gives us his promises again (8:2). Joshua needs to learn from his mistakes and get the people ready (8:3-4). Overconfidence caused us to fail last time, but overconfidence will cause their enemies to fail this time, and this time the spoil was Israel’s to keep.

After Israel took the city, Joshua built an alter in order to strengthen their faith and walk with God. (8:30). Even the altar was built according to God’s instructions (8:31). Joshua made a copy of the law of Moses and read it before all people even the strangers of Israel who could speak the language (8:35).
