Isaiah continues to expound on the visions he has seen concerning the coming judgment of Jerusalem explaining a large population taken into captivity (6:13 cf 2 Kings 21:14), a remnant will stay, but they too will also be taken (6:13 cf Jer. 40:11-12). In Isaiah chapter 6 Isaiah is “chosen” in a dream to be Judah’s prophet and God explains to Isaiah that his message will largely be refused and Israel will only harden their hearts more and more up to the day of judgement. These sort of prophecies are the sort that authenticates God’s word concerning the Messiah and how Jesus relates to us. If God’s Word has been rendered certain in the past, then based in His track record has God and His word we can mark it down as certainty the things concerning Christ, the church, and God’s future judgment on all sinners. The principles of repentance is the same, faith and willing obedience, and in our case faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ.
