Job 5-6

Chapter 5. Eliphaz continues with his reason. He assumes to teach Job about righteousness. The things that Job’s friends say are all true things, but it’s the truth used in the wrong way. They are saying these things to accuse Job of wrong doing.
Here, Eliphaz, likens Job to a foolish man, who has done something wrong and therefore as been punished (v2). In verse 8, Eliphaz says, “if I were you”, “I would seek God” meaning, Eliphaz thinks he needs to get right with God for whatever he is being punished about. Feria toy in Eliphaz’s mind, Job is being punished for something he did that was wrong (5:17). Eliphaz instructs Job that if you would act like a righteous man he would experience peace and blessings (5:23). But we know Angelo knows that Job has done nothing wrong.

Chapter 6. Job answers his friends. In verse 4, he thinks God is punishing him, though he doesn’t know why. Job expresses that he wishes to die (6:8-9). Verse 11 Job speaks of his hopelessness. In verse 24 Job challenges his friends to show him where he has send against God, because Job knows he has done nothing wrong.
