This prayer David is bring his failures before the Lord and confessing his weakness. David wishes to be able to praise God’s name, but God will have to intervene before David will have the joy to do it. Sin on the inside and fears from the enemy on the outside, David’s life is full of conflict and battles. But David finds his encouragement in the Lord and His promise to hear the prayers of the righteous (6:9)
In chapter 7 David is pleading with the LORD based on his innocence in the midst of an accusation made by Cush the Benjamite. David sys to the Lord, if I am guilty of such accusation then my punishment is necessary and just (7:3). But since David is innocent, puts his burden on the Lord. (7:6). It’s The Lord who judges right and wrong among people (7:8), therefore Christians can leave such matters up to Him. If there is an injustice we can bear it and let The Lord handle it in the day of His choosing. The Lord is righteous and He will recompense wrong doing with what is right. We praise The Lord for who He is and His righteous judgment. (7:17)
Chapter 8. David was a clever musician, putting each Psalm to a tune filled with meaning and not vain babble. Profound thoughts that would later become scripture inspired by the Holy Spirit. Such profound thinking is found inPsalms 8.
“When I consider the heavens, the work of they fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast ordained; what is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?”
All of God’s wonders are clearly seen and when standing before them we feel as small as we are. But God thinks about us. He is mindful for us. He did. OT create us never to visit us again with His love and favor. This is precisely the thinking of those who have found the love of God in their life. We are undeserving and very thankful. How excellent id thy name in all the earth!
